The company’s head office

Set up with a vision to be among the leading manufacturers and exporters of carpets and rugs in the GCC region and beyond, Dubai-based Mega Carpets Factory has witnessed tremendous growth over a short span of eight years.

The company started its journey of success in 1999, as the first rug and broadloom carpet manufacturer in the entire Emirates, with one factory and two Van de Wiele weaving looms in the Al Quoz Industrial Area. At the end of 2002, Mega Carpets opened its second factory in Jebel Ali Free Zone followed by another one in Dubai Investment Park. It is currently constructing a fourth factory in Techno Park and is also looking at widening its product range.
It has recently added new machines and is diversifying into other related products like axe minister and tufting printing. The new product ranges it has introduced include the cut and loop shaggy; the hand look; 100 per cent wool, and shaggy with metallic and polyester yarn.
Today the company has established itself in a big way by opening 22 warehouses and 30 showrooms across the Middle East and in Australia. So far the company has been exporting 20 per cent of its production but this year it plans to increase that to 30 per cent. The main reason for increasing export figures is that Mega Carpets is supplying to big retailers such as Wall-Mart and Carrefour  through wholesalers. It has also tied up with B&Q who run a chain of 300 stores in the UK. Mega Carpets is also in the process of dialogue with big retailers in Europe.
In the ME it established new branches in Yemen and Jordan last year. Now its endeavour is to expand in new markets including Syria and Iran and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Its product range comprises area rugs described as the most sellable product of Mega Carpets. Each rug is vivid in colour, has unsurpassed qualities and a wide collection of designs. The rugs are available in different fibres such as wool, acrylic, manmade silk and polypropylene and in different densities with pile heights. The company says it is the first and only manufacturer who can make high-density products in the entire Emirates.
It also manufactures broadloom carpets or wall-to-wall carpet rolls for the commercial and residential markets. The broadloom carpet is well crafted and has a quality that is said to be unmatchable. Broadloom carpets are available in wool, acrylic and polypropylene. The maximum width of the broadloom is 4.20 m. The company can also make custom-designed products.
The production process is carried out on 22 looms. Mega Carpets started with 10 employees and today employs over 600.
The company’s production facilities for carpet and yarn are spread across a total area of 1.5 million sq m. Its annual production capacity is 7 million sq m.
The company says it is committed to quality and utilises only the finest raw materials which are produced in its yarn extrusion facility.  Apart from carpet production, Mega Carpets makes different qualities of yarns including yarn shaggy, twisted and cabling yarn. The day-to-day affairs of the company are managed by a dedicated team of professionals, who are experienced in their respective business domain
