Yanbu Industrial Port
Yanbu Industrial Port reported a throughput of nearly 31.28 tonnes in 2006, a 3.29 per cent decline compared to the previous year.
A total of 2.02 million tonnes was discharged at the port in 2006, up 6.61 per cent over the previous year. There was a big increase in heavy-lift items, as much as 9,256 tonnes compared with 85 tonnes in 2005. Big increases were also reported in the discharge of construction material at 31,017 tonnes (775 per cent), miscellaneous items 83 tonnes (69.39 per cent) and foodstuff 32,085 tonnes (16.89 per cent). The only drop was registered in feedstock (41.4 per cent) at 175,506 tonnes.
Total cargo loaded was 29.25 million tonnes with petrochemicals showing a 27.5 per cent increase at 1.72 million tonnes. Declines in loadings were registered for sulphur at 107,918 tonnes (9.04 per cent), refined products 18.3 million tonnes (7.64 per cent), liquefied natural gas 2.54 million (9.76 per cent) and fuel oil 6.52 million (3.83 per cent).
Of the throughput, 107,918 tonnes of solid bulk cargo was loaded. Bulk cargo liquid (excluding crude oil) discharged was 1.98 million tonnes and loaded 29.14 million tonnes.
The throughput also included container cargo of 3,298 tonnes, all of which was discharged, and the discharge of 456 tonnes of ro-ro consignments.
Yanbu Commercial Port
The port registered a total throughput of 1.48 million tonnes in 2006, up 28.18 per cent over the previous year.
Of the 1.38 million tonnes discharged, solid bulk cargo accounted for 1.33 million tonnes, general cargo 35,606 tonnes, container cargo 1,276 tonnes, ro-ro 7,520 tonnes and livestock 1,761 tonnes.
The loaded cargo comprised liquid bulk cargo (excluding crude oil) of 23,309 tonnes, general cargo 58,647 tonnes, containers 22,103 tonnes and ro-ro 3,088 tonnes.
