Welding and steel fabrication call for a highly skilled workforce

Fabrication specialist Jeddah National Steel Factory (JNSF) has had its hands full in recent months, having received contracts from well known business houses.

Since 1962, the year it was established, the company has accumulated expertise in all manner of steel fabrication, erection and rigging for vertical and horizontal tanks, pressure vessels, pipings and other related work. Its expertise extends to structural work in bolted and welded construction for industrial buildings, bridges, equipment support and warehouses.
JNSF, part of the Hijaz Group, is capable of producing 15,000 tonnes of steel products per year.
The company was awarded a number of contracts in 2006, some of which are ongoing. These included a project for the design, preparation of shop fabrication drawings, supply of raw material, fabrication, surface treatment, delivery and erection of 24 vertical storage tanks in capacities of 1,500 cu m, 3,100 cu m, 4,500 cu m and 9,000 cu m.
The owner of the project, Al Fawzani and Partners for Contracting, was represented by Assad Al Shukairy while the consultant was Acwa Power Sasakura. The work involved 2,200 tonnes.
Another project had a similar scope but involved the erection of a steel structure at Towers DH & C. The company did not specify the nature of the structure. The owner of the project, Saudi Bin Ladin Group, was represented by Mohammed Affaneh.  Consultant for the project was Dar Al Handasah, represented by Adel Shadeed. The volume involved was 300 tonnes.
One of the projects was related to United Sugar Company, represented by Nijad Company.  It involved work similar to the other two projects, and the quantity in use was 150 tonnes.
JNSF also undertook fabrication and welding of steel structures for Mitwaly Establishment represented by Mohammed Berjawe, who also acted as the consultant. The work entailed use of 80 tonnes.
Similar work was also done for Arabian Panels Factory, represented by Mohamed El Nemer, who also served as the consultant. The steel tonnage was 70.
