Water is one of mankind's most valuable resources and there is an ever-increasing demand for good quality water for both industrial and domestic use," says John Wheatley, Metito FZE director.

From its beginnings in 1958, Metito has grown to become a world leader in the design and supply of water and wastewater treatment and water desalination systems. The company offers world class engineering and management solutions in the areas of process engineering and design; laboratory analysis; equipment manufacture; project management and project maintenance.

Metito recently established a factory and laboratory facility in Hamriyah Free Zone for the manufacture of its range of speciality water treatment chemicals, dosing equipment and gas chlorinators.

The facility manufactures a broad range of high quality chemical products for the most important applications in water treatment. The Metito M-series chemicals are well established in the market for a number of years, says Wheatley.

Examples of Metito's expertise in designing water treatment chemicals and systems can be seen in its solutions for industrial boiler water treatment. "Because of its unique properties, steam is widely used for power generation, industrial processes, sterilisation, humidification and heating. Achieving the goal of producing quality steam on demand through modern industrial boiler systems depends on properly managed water treatment to control steam purity, deposits and corrosion," says Wheatley.

With the selection of the correct pre-treatment plant and chemical treatment programmes designed to eliminate deposits and corrosion problems, it should be possible to run the plant well beyond the accepted life of the boiler and at optimum efficiency, he says.

Metito's range of treatments has been designed to prevent scale and corrosion throughout the system. They will prolong the life of feed systems and eliminate carryover and foaming, thus ensuring steam purity. To protect condensate return lines, volatile amine products are used. All pre-treatment and internal conditioning is performed by Metito in accordance with international standards, says Wheatley.

Metito supplies its speciality products worldwide through an international network of agents, distributors and its own branch offices which are all supported by Metito (Overseas) Limited regional headquarters for Asia, Middle East and Africa, based in Sharjah. "We ensure that our consultants and service engineers receive comprehensive training in the selection and supply of the most suitable products and provide quality after sales service for our customers," he says.

Metito has developed considerable technique and process expertise in introducing environmentally-friendly treatments and the support services offered include operator training, management seminars, start up assistance and regularly scheduled reviews.
