CA has announced that it was the 2005 market share leader in two important segments of the $9.9 billion IT operations management market—job scheduling and asset management—according to a Gartner Inc report entitled, “Market Share: IT Operations Management Software, Worldwide, 2005.”
In another CA-related development, the company announced an agreement under which it will incorporate the Arkivio Auto-Stor enterprise file management solution into its BrightStor product line, helping customers in the Middle East simplify data management while optimising storage resources across heterogeneous data and storage environments within the region. Arkivio Auto-Stor is a leading information lifecycle management (ILM) solution that discovers and organises data and storage according to its business value. It complements CA’s BrightStor email archiving, recovery and resource management solutions by creating and automatically executing policies to move data to optimal resources across SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage) and storage grids. CA will market the product as CA File System Manager.
According to the Gartner report, CA’s market share was 30 per cent in job scheduling, a 12 per cent increase over 2004, and 21.1 per cent in asset management for major vendors, a 13.2 per cent increase. The report marks the fourth consecutive year that CA has been ranked as the overall market leader in IT asset management. Gartner estimates that the value of the overall IT operations management market grew 12.6 per cent over 2004.
Bjarne Rasmussen, vice president of CA Technology and Business Units, EMEA Eastern Markets, commented: “This is a major achievement for CA. We look forward to helping customers in the Middle East region make the best out of their IT infrastructure investment using our technology, expertise and especially our experience from servicing customers around the world.”
