VXL chose the Citrix iForum in Edinburgh to showcase the latest addition to its range of thin client devices.

“The new Itona TI54xx series is VXL’s first integrated model and brings VXL’s proven combination of performance and quality at the lowest possible price point,” a press release said. “ A key feature of this new model is the inbuilt support for dual monitors, a vital requirement for many financial dealing houses, customer care centres etc.”
The 17” LCD screen has been designed to combine ultra-sharp clarity with a small footprint and optional touchscreen capability. Integrated within the screen chassis is a powerful thin client device with all the usual connectivity of USB 2 and 10/100 ethernet as well as wireless connectivity for ease of deployment. Current estimates put the new machine some $300 cheaper than its equivalent rivals. The Itona TI54xx series is available with Linux, Windows CE or Windows XPe as the inbuilt operating system and comes with an impressive array of software, including web browsers and VXL’s latest remote management software, XLmanage Workgroup Edition.
“This new model is designed to increase the scope of thin client technology,” said Frank Noon, VXL’s Worldwide VP of Sales. “The dual monitor support and wireless LAN capability is indicative of VXL’s desire to incorporate real value in our products.” Industry analysts forecast that the current growth in thin clients will continue as a result of the lower purchase and running costs, ease of management and greater security. “By expanding the range and scope of our products”, concludes Noon, “we are pushing the thin client boundaries, yet maintaining the VXL commitment to quality and performance at the lowest price point”
VXL is headquartered in Bangalore, India and has recently opened a new European HQ and Logistics facility in Manchester.
