
Gulf International Chemicals (GIC) manufactures and supplies a proven range of construction chemicals meeting international standards for the building and construction industries.

GIC sales manager Remesh Krishnan says the company is oriented to give prompt attention and technical service to customer requirements and satisfaction.
“GIC understands the technical needs of construction technology and offers viable solutions to meet them,” he explains.
The company operates to high standards of quality assurance of products at every process stage. A traceable batch numbering system assures quick and timely response. Qualified and experienced technical personnel in research and development functions ensure application and market-driven product development to meet customer expectations.
GIC, which will soon mark its 10th anniversary, has a paid up capital of $2.2 million.
General manager Sasidar Kunnumal says GIC’s manufacturing base is spread over an area of 6,000 sq m in Muscat’s Rusayl Industrial Area.
“The factory is geared up for production of powder products in excess of 5,000 tonnes per year (tpy) and for liquid products in excess of 5,000 tpy apart from spare capacities for sealants/cartridges,” he explains.
GIC products are approved by various ministries in Oman and enjoy a fair amount of confidence with leading consultants and specifiers. The retail segment in local markets is well covered and caters through nearly 35 outlets who stock/supply GIC products for local needs.
Krishnan says GIC caters to all the local markets in civil engineering and construction field and building infrastructure. Its projects include the Grand Mosque, Dibba Hospital, Royal Hospital, Al Kahal Hospital, City Centre, Seeb Mall, RAFO air base at Thumrait, Sohar Port, Seeb Ariport hanger, Ibri Stadium, Al Kamil power station, Al Ashkara Fishery Harbour and Salalah Port.
“We export throughout the Gulf, as well as to South Africa, Southeast Asia and the Far East,” he continues. “This year, the company opened sales offices in Iran, Iraq and India.”

The product range includes concrete and mortar admixtures; surface treatments; construction intumescent and building joint sealants; structural waterproofing; concrete repair and protection; cement and chemical grouts; injection resins and anchors; industrial flooring products polyurethane, cement systems and epoxy resin systems; bonding agents and tiling products; ancillary products, specialised product applications and soil stabilisation.
Krishnan says customer service and prompt attention to the requirement of site support, technical information and delivery are the corner stones by which the company will measure its success.
“GIC operates to very high standards of quality control and products are tested and evaluated at every stage. The quality assurance system checks raw materials as well as out-going products,” he elaborates. “All products are independently evaluated and approved and have independent quality audit. A traceable batch numbering system assures quick and timely response to complaints.”
Krishnan says qualified and experienced technical staff in research and development, as well as in the laboratory, strive for quality control.
“We are already working for the ISO 9002 system and have completed both the first and second stages of audit,” he adds. “We hope to receive the ISO 9002 certification before the end of this year.”
GIC products are tested to international standards by independent laboratories for third-party certificates.
