Emerson Climate Technologies, the manufacturer of components for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) market, has been having a successful run in Kuwait, it says.
“We have been seeing double-digit growth in the county over the last few years and we expect that to continue in the near future,” an Emerson spokesman said. Emerson Climate Technologies is a division of Emerson Electric established 115 years ago and among its major brands are Copeland compressors and condensing units, Alco controls, Emerson Motors, Emerson Power Transmission, CPC electronic controllers for refrigeration, White-Rodgers controls and valves, Therm-o-disc temperature protection for motors and Fusite hermetic power feed-through.
“There’s a construction boom in Kuwait and there’s a need for the kind of products we manufacture,” said the spokesman.
“Our compressors are very popular in the Kuwait market. That’s because a reliable compressor is essential to having a reliable air conditioner for Kuwait’s extremely high ambient conditions and Copeland compressors can withstand such temperatures better than those of other suppliers. They have proved their reliability with the highest penetration in this market for many years.”
The spokesman also remarked that Kuwait was important because of its proximity to Iraq. The Iraqi market is being served through Kuwait channels.
As industry’s technology leader, Emerson is the preferred partner for compressors and controls to multi-national companies such as Carrier, Trane, Lennox, IR, Gree, Samsung and Rheem. In the Kuwait market Emerson is the preferred supplier to Risco-Coolex for Copeland, Alco, Emerson Motors, Emerson Power Transmission, and White Rodger products. Risco and several other regional air-conditioner manufacturers associated with Emerson such as Zamil, SKM, Petra and Unionaire have now grown internationally.
With 110,000 employees and 380 manufacturing locations worldwide and sales worth $17.3 billion in 2005, Emerson’s sales have seen continued growth in the Middle East and Africa region.
The Middle East market for the state-of-the-art cooling and refrigeration technology is growing faster than any other in the world, and Emerson Climate Technologies is poised to meet that demand with a range of new, locally assembled products and uniquely offered services that will see the company continue its rapid pace of expansion. Says Pratap Chavan, vice president and managing director for the Middle East and Africa: “Historically, our market knowledge is what has enabled us to compete effectively in the region, but that’s changing. Today, the Middle East’s contractors, specifiers, developers, builders and architects are coming to us for our technology and our value-added services. They know that no one else in the world offers the climate solutions, coupled with customer-focused service, that we are successfully deploying around the globe.”
Emerson’s next generation of Copeland Scroll compressors received the 2005 AHR Expo Innovation Award for technology innovation in February. The improved platform was introduced at the 2005 International Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration (AHR) Expo, which took place in Orlando. The award recognises Emerson Climate Technologies for its efforts to continually evolve scroll technology to advance the HVACR industry. Scroll technology not only offers better energy efficiency, saving on operating costs for consumers, but it is better for the global environment because it results in less damage compared to the use of other systems.
“The next generation of Copeland Scroll (tm) is ideal for helping A/C manufacturers improve efficiency standards and for enhancing contractors’ reputations for industry-leading reliability,” said Jayakumar, director at Emerson Climate Technologies’ key accounts, Middle East and Africa. “The new range of Copeland Scroll compressors represents a commitment by Emerson Climate Technologies to continuously improve Copeland Scroll with new levels of performance and reliability.
“The enhanced compressor design delivers even better efficiency, reliability and lower sound emissions.” He then goes on to say, “The new generation of Copeland Scroll further increases the efficiency of the compressor by up to 7 per cent while reducing sound by up to 50 per cent. Improved temperature protection, enhanced bearing systems and standardised parts all further improve product quality and proven scroll reliability.”
Copeland Scroll compressors have been a leading technology in the HVACR industry ever since Copeland brought the technology to the market 18 years ago. Since then, over 40 million Copeland Scroll compressors have been installed worldwide. “They have 70 per cent fewer moving parts than other models. They weigh less, are more compact, deliver over 40 per cent more energy efficiency, and are three times quieter than any comparable technology,” Jayakumar concludes.
