Remal is using wireless for the good of industries

Remal Telecom Company Ltd, aiming to expand the reach of wireless and providing customers with the highest standards in construction, installation, operations and customer support services, has achieved a measure of success over the years.

Its clientele includes some of the biggest names in Saudi Arabia and beyond the kingdom.
Al Khobar-based Remal Telecom undertakes engineering and production projects in sectors including active conditioning shelters; passive/conditioning shelters-both passive integral and passive enhanced; cells on wheels; mobile command units; cold storage facilities and broadband wireless networking solutions.
Its range of manufactured products includes empty shelter fabrications, outfitted shelter fabrication, cold room fabrication, passive shelter fabrication, mobile command units and cells on wheels. The in-house fabrication facility operates under the name Remal Telecom Factory Ltd in Dammam’s Second Industrial City.
The factory’s capabilities cover the production of a variety of panels and structures including polyurethane insulated steel sheet panels. The 20,000 sq m facility has ample space for storing raw materials and stocks.
Established in 2001, Remal Telecom joined Omni Shelter from Italy, part of the Calzavara group, which had long been producing a considerable number of passive and active conditioning shelters for the international market.
Remal Telecom then signed agreements with Radio Frequency Systems (RFS) and LGC Wireless for exclusive distribution rights of their wireless solutions products. RFS, one of its global partners, is a leading designer and manufacturer of cellular-based stations and antenna system solutions for original equipment manufacturers and network operators.
LGC Wireless delivers solutions to expand the reach of wireless technology. Its client base includes Nextel, Verizon, Vodafone, Sprint PCS, AT&T Wireless, Qwest, Cingular and Voicestream, among other parties.
Calzavara, established in 1976, is a system integrator involved in services and products for radio networks. Based in Italy, its affiliates include Clampco Sistemi and OmniShelter.
Other organisations Remal Telecom co-operates with include LGC Wirelesss and Isofoton.
“Remal Telecom pursued these alliances to become a major provider of wireless products and solutions in the Middle East and Asia as a whole,” a company spokesman said.
“The company has led the way in a wide variety of projects in various sectors in the telecommunication industry, delivering innovative solutions for expanding the reach of wireless.”
It has executed several major projects, supplying empty shelters for competing telecom companies, shelters for Saudi Telecom Co (STC) and passive and active sites for a number of customers.
The clientele is quite large. As well as STC, the company has been supplying to Saudi Aramco, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), the Ministry of Defence and Aviation, Motorola, Siemens, Nokia, Lucent, Al Awsat, Al Babtain, Al Muhaideb, Al Osais Contracting, Al Raedah International and Al Rashed Abetong Building Technology Trading Est.
Other local companies that Remal deals with are CSC, Darco, First Telecom, Gentec, Hicap, Linfra, Logistics Support House, Mashael Al Rowad, National Telecommunication Company Ltd (Natel), Nour Communications, Power Telecom and Technologies, Qutub Technologies Cont Est, Saudi Ericsson Communications, Seder Telecom and Stesa.
The company’s international clients are Arabian Construction Company, MTC, Vodafone, Etisalat, Batelco, Wataniya Telecom, Sabafone, Spacetel and Inteltec, among others.
It lists its affiliates and associates as Natel, part of the Nesma group of companies and provider of telecom equipment and services in the kingdom; Remal Electric Factory Company, a manufacturer of various electrical components and shelters, and Rawabi United Telecommunications, which provides software solutions, system integration, telecommunications technologies and consultancy and telecom services.
