Dnata Cargo has been awarded the ISO 14001 certification for commitment to continual improvement of its working environment.
The certificate was presented to Dnata's airport services director Ismail Ali Al Banna by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI), Dubai, chief executive George Kubik.
Al Banna said: "We are delighted with our new achievement. By operating in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 14001 environmental management system quality standard, Dnata Cargo demonstrates its continuous dedication to quality systems and this time in the environmental processes."
This latest certification builds on to Dnata Cargo's total quality management system and endorses its commitment to continual improvement of the working environment. This is achieved through an environmental management system (EMS) established under the ISO 14001 specification.
The purpose of the EMS is to ensure that Dnata Cargo has identified the effects of its operation on the environment and has set in place measures to control and improve its environmental impact.
The use of utilities such as electricity and water, recycling of papers, the use of fuel and noise pollution are measured. Targets are then set and controls put in place aimed at continuously improving the environment in each of these areas.
These measures are managed systematically through a continuous process of monitoring and reviewing performance. Through this process, any areas of non-conformity are corrected, while periodic audits provide feedback information to its management.
Dnata Cargo is currently working on the safety standard ISO 18001 to build its commitment to safety and to work toward a healthier and safer work environment and to take advantage of the internationally-recognised ISO standard.
