Imperbit Membrane Industries (formerly AI-Yousuf Insulation Material Industries), established in 1995, is claimed to be the UAE's first factory for the manufacture of APP (atactic polypropylene) and SBS (styrene butadiene styrene) modified bitumen roofing and waterproofing membranes.

IMI is part of the AI Yousuf Group with diversified trading activities in automobiles, computers, electronics, pharmaceuticals, travel, construction and manufacture of Yamaha boats.

The IMI team comprises managers, executives and technicians vastly experienced in the bitumen and modified bitumen membranes industries. They provide a rich combination with years of working in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Italy and the UAE. The vast knowledge gained through years of hands-on experience has contributed immensely to the design of high performance products, suited to cope with the climate extremes experienced in the Middle East.

The factory at the New Jebel Ali Industrial Area is built on 36,000 sq m of land and has been fitted with a state-of-the-art Italian computer-controlled production line with ample space for future expansion. With an installed capacity of 9 million sq m of membranes per year, IMI uses Italian technology to produce a range of APP and SBS modified roofing and waterproofing membranes.

IMI produces a comprehensive range of torchable and self-adhering membranes with different specifications to cater to the various project requirements. Besides meeting the requirements of the UAE construction industry , Imperbit membranes are currently exported to all GCC states, India, Pakistan, East and South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and CIS countries.

The production line is supervised by an experienced quality control department backed by a fully-equipped testing laboratory which continuously tests primary products and finished goods to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
