Little by way of alternative strapping and load securing materials was available when Cordstrap entered the Middle East in 1995.
Old conventional materials such as steel strapping, wire rope and chains were still being used. Costly product damage and safety as well as environmental problems of discarded rusting steel made customers realise the long-term financial impact of using outdated packaging products.
Since that time Cordstrap has introduced cost-effective, safe and environmentally friendly methods of securing valuable goods for many industrial applications, ultimately achieving the aim of offering total solutions for countless packaging and transport problems.
All Cordstrap products are manufactured in the Dutch town of Deurne. “Continuous research and development ensures that Cordstrap leads the way in how products will be safely transported in the future,” says a company spokesman. “Cordstrap pays close attention to quality and consistency in all products it produces. Unlike other systems, all Cordstrap straps and load securing systems are certified by Germanischer Lloyds whilst the company’s Quality Management System has been approved by BVQI to ISO 9001 – 2000.”
Mark Gordon, Cordstrap’s Middle East director, comments: “We are planning a rapid sales expansion throughout the Middle East. Demand for quality and certified load securing products has increased particularly from manufacturing industries successful in exporting their goods outside their own countries.
“Companies producing high-value, quality products require them to arrive at their customer’s in perfect condition. Damage to goods is no longer considered inevitable.”
There are still old-fashioned materials and methods used for transport packaging. However, as shipping costs and insurance claims increase, companies are no longer willing to risk using outdated products to transport their goods. They require the latest securing products backed by technical advice underpinned by years of transport packing experience. “Cordstrap wants to get closer to these customers and therefore will be opening more facilities throughout the Middle East’s main industrial and shipping port zones,” said Gordon.
Gordon stresses that “only certified strapping and load securing products should be used. If in any doubt, ask to see test certificates issued by professional organisations such as Lloyds. Fake products do exist and often fail once goods have been shipped. If it is not the genuine item, don’t risk using it.”
