One of Firex’s products is fire-fighting trucks

Sharjah-based Emirates Fire Fighting Equipment Factory (Firex) reports a strong surge in sales and an expansion of exports beyond the Gulf into the Mediterranean region and Africa. Firex also says it expects to penetrate the European heartland next year.

“Firex is now able to compete with leading manufacturers in the fire protection field,” a company spokesman said.  Firex was established in 1998.
Products manufactured by the company include portable and mobile fire extinguishers and accessories such as carbon dioxide, dry powder, wet chemicals, halon alternatives and extinguishers using foam and water.
The company also manufactures automatic gaseous fire suppression systems.
One of its specialities is the assembly of fire fighting vehicles to clients’ specifications.  Recently it supplied four such vehicles to the Yemen Petroleum Company.
 It also markets the Bosch fire alarm, products made by Firex UK, the Best sprinkler system as well as Chemguard super concentrate foam from the US, Aquaplus pump sets and fire fighting equipment from Australia.
Major projects it has been involved with are Lake Terrace, Dubai Residence, Al Jazeera Towers and Abco Towers.
Customers include petroleum companies, government water and electricity departments and military establishments. Contractors who have awarded it contracts include Damac, ETA and Al Nakheel.
Firex’s sales in the first eight months of 2005 rose 50 per cent to Dh280 million ($76.2 million) compared with Dh187 million for the corresponding period of last year. Total sales for full-year 2004 were Dh210.7 million against Dh85 million in the previous year.  Around 60 per cent of all sales are accounted for by exports.
The company has the ISO 9001 certification for quality management and its products conform to BS, EN, NFPA and GCC standards.
