Optical instruments will be among technologies showcased at the event

Photonex, the UK’s premier photonics, lasers and optical instrumentation event, will be held on the 5th and 6th of October this year at Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry, England.

The event’s organiser is Xmark Media Ltd, the parent company of OpticsPages Ltd, which is a buyers’ guide. OpticsPages is now in its 7th year and was first created as an online version of the Photonex Exhibition Catalogue.
Photonex is held annually and comprises a trade exhibition, a technical programme and networking activities.
“It will be brimming with new products, new ideas and a breath-taking range of photonics components, tools, instruments, materials, software, systems, services and applicable optical technologies,” a spokesman for the exhibition said.
“Now in its 14th year it is firmly established as the No 1 exhibition in the UK for scientists and engineers in the fields of aerospace, automotive, biology, chemistry, defence, industrial control, industrial processing, inspection, instrument building, laboratory services, original equipment manufacturing, physics, research and development, security, system integration and universities.”
The event will feature three days of seminars by Photonics Cluster, two days of seminars by the UK Industrial Vision Association and four meetings by the Institute of Physics/Optical Group.
For the first time this year the exhibition is featuring demonstrations.  Visitors will be able to view ‘live’ how instruments and optical products are used. Additionally, in a new Photonics Demonstration Area, which is supported by the UK’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), there will be demonstrations by Link ISD, Link OSDA programme members, university groups and Faraday Partnerships, who will be showing the progress being made in the UK in the development of the next generation of photonics products.
Photonex boasts regular visitors who are serious buyers of photonics and optical equipment. Commenting on its ability to deliver a well-supported exhibition each year Exhibition Director Laurence Devereux says: “The UK has a strong and active photonics and optics community. It is a rapidly developing market and buyers need to meet regularly to see the latest offerings by industry suppliers.” Devereux adds: “A large proportion of the photonics business in the UK is bespoke - special requirements, systems developed for specific applications - buyers need to have a face-to-face opportunity to discuss the solutions applicable to them”.
