Equipment at the factory

Arabian Metals Company (Amco), a subsidiary of the Olayan Group, has captured a prominent position in Saudi industry thanks to expertise gained over nearly three decades and its capability in providing professional products and services to the oil and gas industry and other important sectors.

Amco has been a prime vendor to such companies as Saudi Aramco, Sabic, SWCC, Schlumberger, Haliburton, Hydril, Shafer and Cameron.
Products manufactured by Amco include API specification 6A flanges and other connectors in all sizes, pressure ratings and configurations.
The flanges are produced from carbon steel or stainless steel and can have ring groove inlayed with corrosion-resistant alloy to suit customers’ needs.
On customers’ preference, flanges can be certified to Nace MR-0175 standard and pressure tested. The common flanges are blind, test, threaded, weld neck and hub.
The company manufactures API specification 6A adaptor spools in all sizes, pressure ratings and configurations. Adaptor spools are produced from carbon steel 4130, 4140, seamless tubes or stainless steel depending on the size. Customers may specify any combination of connection and length. When a minimum length is specified, Amco keeps adequate clearance to accommodate studs, wrenches, nuts and clamps.
Its drilling spools come in API specification 6A and in all sizes, pressure ratings and configurations.
The spacer spools it manufactures come in all sizes and pressure ratings suitable for wellhead extensions, BOP spacing, choke, kill and manifold applications. Spacer spool identification consists of specifying each end connection and overall length.
Hub connections are manufactured as per customer requirements in different sizes, pressure ratings and configurations and are identical to flange crosses and tees. The clamp connection configuration conforms to API 16A.
Blocks and tees are made from forged steel according to API specification 6A and tested to industry standards. Studs and nuts are provided if required.
Choke manifolds are manufactured in all sizes, pressure ratings and configurations. They are produced from carbon steel, 4130, 4140 and seamless tubes.
Amco couplings are phosphate-coated and colour coded in accordance with API criteria.
The company is authorised by NKK to manufacture premium-thread NK-3SB couplings in either carbon steel or high-chrome alloys and plated in accordance to pi and NKK specifications.
The company also designs and manufactures wireline tools to suit individual requirements. All components are manufactured from material that meets with Nace specifications MR-0175 (latest edition) and API criteria.
The tool string is necessary for efficient surface control during the running and pulling operation on wirelines of subsurface control devices. A standard set of quick release wireline tools typically consists of rope socket, sinker bar, jars, knuckle joints and running or pulling tools.
The quick release joint provides a fast and strong method of tool coupling that is entirely hand operated, eliminating the need for threads wrenches or lever bars. It is also used on rope sockets, stems, knuckle joints and jars.
The wireline stem provides the weight required in jarring operations. It enables the tool string to fall against the differential pressure and friction at the wireline stuffing box.
Wireline products include rope sockets, which are used to securely attack the wireline to the tool string. It is manufactured according to customer requirements and consists of body, spring, spring support and disc. Several rope sockets are manufactured depending on the operational requirements, such as slip type, pear drop type, disk type and spring type.
Other wireline products are knuckle joints, knuckle jars, mechanical jars, tubular jars, roller stem, gauge cutters, impression blocks, wire finders, grabs and spears.
“The company has pursued a policy of continued investment in personnel, equipment and facilities, which has enabled it to maintain a predominant position,” says an Amco spokesman.
“The commitment to quality through all levels of staff has helped develop its quality assurance and quality control systems, procedures and products to match or exceed international industry standards.”
The company holds 6 API licences for all its oilfield tools and fittings, valve and wellhead products and services and is ISO 9001 registered.
“Whatever your industry, Amco’s extensive technical and mechanical capabilities in engineering and reverse engineering constitute unmatched resources for manufacturing components or parts tailor-made to your industry’s requirement,” says the spokesman.
