Legrand, a global specialist in products and systems for electrical installations and information networks in residential housing and commercial buildings and in industry, is keen to expand its markets in the Middle East region.

Apart from the switches and sockets market in which it’s well known throughout the region, the company wants to focus on its products for the industrial sector.
Freedom, simplicity and safety are the three main characteristics of the Legrand range, says Mohamed Ahmed-Yahia, general manager – Gulf countries.
With a complete switchgear solution comprising ACBs, MCCBs and MCBs and covering the entire demand up to 4000A, Legrand can tackle any project with ease and confidence, he says. For added safety, ELCBs and RCBOs with a full range of signalling and control accessories are also found in the Legrand package.
Complementing the protection and distribution side, the control side of the switchgear solution offers a wide range of analog and digital timers, push buttons and indicators, contactors and relays. Clever and efficient connection accessories and modular distribution blocks solidify the offer for a turnkey solution, says Ahmed-Yahia.
This offer, coupled with the enclosures solution provided by Legrand’s partners, provides all the requirements for MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, load centres and special enclosures. Many projects have implemented Legrand solutions in the region, he says.
Legrand’s range of products also offers comprehensive solutions in:
Electricity and information distribution: panels and cabinets, circuit-breakers, VDI panels and patching racks, cable routing;
Controls and connections: switches and sockets, installation control via the Internet, power line carrier, infrared and radio;
Safety systems for people and property: fire and intruder alarms, emergency lighting, access control.
The Middle East market is worth about euro 100 million for the company and it is growing at about 15-20 per cent a year. In the UAE, Legrand registered an impressive 75 per cent growth during the last two years.
“The Middle East is an extremely important market to us and we have products matching the needs of the market. We want to be a part of the construction boom taking place in the region and towards this end we are communicating more with our customers,” says Ahmed-Yahia.
The company’s partner in Dubai and Northern Emirates is Al Hathboor and in Abu Dhabi it is Electra. In the industrial products, the company works directly with panel builders.
In January 2005, the company created a Middle East zone with headquarters in Dubai. The region has five sub-zones including the UAE; Oman, Qatar and Kuwait; Saudi Arabia and Bahrain; Lebanon and Syria; and Egypt, Jordan, Yemen and Libya.
