Intersec 2005 will feature a substantial conference programme as an accompaniment to the exhibition, which will be held from January 15 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Four separate conferences will run parallel under the themes of police, fire, corporate security and health & safety - Mepec, Mefec, Mecsec & Mesh, organisers Epoc Messe Frankfurt said.
Mepec, sponsored by Visage, a company specialising in high-tech identity systems for governments, law-enforcement agencies and businesses, will be opened by Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commandant General of the Dubai Police Force.  The conference features a presentation on Crime and Public Order by Andrew Trotter, Deputy Chief of British Transport Police, followed by a focus on forensic science and DNA. The UAE’s Brig Dr Abdulqader Alkhayat, Director General of the Department of Forensic Sciences, Dubai Police, will present a paper titled “The Impact of DNA typing on crime scene and criminal investigation.”
Internationally recognised experts will be on hand at Mefec. These include Ken Knight, Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade, Reinhard Ries, Frankfurt’s Chief Fire Officer, and Hong Kong’s sky-scraper fire specialist, Simon Tam, Deputy Director of Hong Kong’s Fire Service. He will present an important insight into firefighting and rescue in high-rise buildings.
Surveillance, biometrics, alarm systems and smart card technologies are the main themes of the Mecsec event. Chaired by the former Chief Security Adviser to the Bank of England and British Army counter-intelligence specialist, Bill Wylie, the agenda covers a range of compelling issues aimed at the corporate world. The final component of Intersec’s commercial security programme relates to the crucial issue of health and safety in the work place.  Under the umbrella Mesh brand, the forum will provide valuable information on fire protection, security training and saving lives in emergencies. <
