Safi: proud to play a key role

The National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) has signed a 20-year contract with Omnix Group to provide cooling services to Dubai Pearl, its Dh3 billion ($816 million) downtown community centre development.

Under contract terms, Tabreed will design, build and own a new district cooling scheme to provide chilled water for cooling purposes across the entire multi-purpose development, which encompasses three hotel towers with more than 1,500 hotel rooms and suites, the 1,800-seat Dubai Royal Hall, a 200,000 sq ft galleria, six residential towers with more than 2,200 apartments and over 1.2 million sq ft of shops, restaurants and promenades, in addition to a TecnoWorld, a 700,000 sq ft permanent showcase of technology and two office towers having an area of  1.3 million sq ft.
“The Dubai Pearl is a futuristic downtown concept that will be a model of an exciting, active and vibrant urban community hub with state-of-the-art technology in everything it has,” said Jamal Abu Issa, president of Omnix Group. The planned scheme’s capacity can be expanded by a further 15 per cent to facilitate the complex’s future cooling requirements. The scheme will be operated and maintained by Tabreed for 20 years to ensure reliable and uninterrupted delivery of cooling services to the entire development.
“Dubai Pearl is a visionary urban development scheme and Tabreed is proud to play a key role in such a unique local project,” said Dany Safi, Tabreed’s managing director.
“Omnix Group’s recognition and understanding of the energy-saving and environmental benefits of district cooling technology highlight their foresight and long-term commitment to sustained regional development.”
