Red Sea houses being transported in the Middle East

Red Sea Housing Services, a recognised world leader in prefabricated housing with the largest production facilities in the Middle East, is becoming bigger.

The company, which provides a broad range of housing solutions for the oil and gas and mining industries, has said it plans to set up new production facilities in the near future in view of the growing demand for prefab housing.

It has at present two strategically located modern manufacturing facilities, one in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and the other in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, UAE, together capable of manufacturing 2,000 sq m per day of quality housing, which is equivalent to an annual production capacity of 700,000 sq m. The total factory area comprises approximately 75,000 sq m.

Red Sea Housing is certified by Bureau Veritas Quality International to the ISO 9001:2000 Standard for its quality management system.

The company has over 27 years of experience in shipping and installing houses in 36 countries around the world and says its sales area includes Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Aruba, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Chad, Cameroon, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, the UAE and Yemen.

“Red Sea buildings are shipped by land, sea or air, anytime, anywhere in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.  The buildings are normally shipped in flat-packed format, thereby minimising shipping volume and overall shipping cost for the client,” a company spokesman said.

“Wet and mechanical areas such as bath cubes and kitchen modules are shipped fully assembled, thereby eliminating plumbing work at site.  Site Installation can be carried out with a small crew under Red Sea supervision.”

Red Sea has developed various types of products to suit individual requirements from residential housing to commercial buildings.
“At present, we have eight types of buildings that clients can choose, namely Sitemaster-3 Series, Sitemaster-3 Roughneck, Sitemaster-25 Series, Sitemaster-25 Roughneck, Seaway Series, Steel Roughneck, Rolling Roughneck and the Premier Series,” the spokesman says.

The company has more than 900 highly qualified and skilled personnel, distributed across various field installation projects and its Jubail and Dubai manufacturing plants.  Red Sea Housing craftsmen and skilled workers often are competent in two or more trades, thereby enjoying a large degree of flexibility in planning and execution.

The building units are produced in a controlled factory environment, subject to rigorous quality control and testing procedures to ensure uniformity and quality of the products.  All building systems (i.e. electrical, mechanical and structural) are repeatedly tested at stations along the production line and again in the field during and after installation.

Red Sea was founded 27 years ago in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, by Abdullah Dabbagh, and served initially as a general trading company called the Red Sea Office for Trade and Marketing.  It is now part of the Dabbagh Group of Companies based in Saudi Arabia.

Red Sea Housing Services got its early roots in the housing industry in 1976 by importing prefabricated housing from the United States during the construction boom in Saudi Arabia.  Dabbagh’s relationship with experts and business professionals of the industry led him to expand the business by hiring those he believed could carry the company to greater achievements.  His efforts paid off and soon the young company expanded into manufacturing and property management.

Due to the rapid growth and Dabbagh’s desire to expand even further, the establishment’s legal status was changed to a limited liability company and it became Red Sea Housing Services Company Ltd.  As the years went by and Dabbagh’s other business ventures grew, Red Sea Housing Services Co. Ltd   was added to the Dabbagh Group Holding Company Ltd whose chairman is Amr Abdullah Dabbagh.

The first housing manufacturing facility was established in Jeddah in 1978 and as the company continued to expand, a second manufacturing facility was opened in Jubail in 1991.  Growth of sales internationally created even more demand and in 1998 a new facility was established in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai.

“Red Sea has earned the confidence of our clients,” the spokesman commented.  “We have helped them with their short- and long-term housing and accommodation needs and they keep on coming back to avail themselves of our products and services.   We have proved that Red Sea is capable of serving them with quality products in a timely manner.

“Anywhere you need housing, we have probably been there before.  We know the conditions you will encounter and your buildings are designed accordingly.  We will assist you from the start of the project to its finish.”
