A new alliance between Bahrain’s Asry and a London-based rig systems designer has been forged to target business related to offshore oil and gas drill rigs in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East.

The tie-up between Asry and London outfit Rig Design Services Limited (RDS) called the Asry-RDS Alliance, will undertake repairs, maintenance, upgrades and conversions for the rigs.

“The Alliance recognises the need to be able to offer operators a total ‘one stop shop’ capability, whereby they can have all their needs addressed relating to any type of work required on their rigs,” said a joint statement.  It assured owners and operators it could undertake turnkey projects from Feed studies through to complete rig upgrades for greater efficiency and compliance with current HSE requirements.

“The Alliance, through its long-established association with major drilling equipment manufacturers around the world, is able to undertake any type of conversion or upgrade work, including the supply of all the specialised equipment necessary, at extremely competitive prices be it the most advanced top drive equipment through to well control equipment and state-of-the-art instrumentation and control systems,” the statement said.

Asry has for many years undertaken repair work on a variety of jack-up rigs, developing much expertise. The company pitches that its Bahrain location is ideal for addressing the needs of rig owners and operators in the Arabian Gulf area while its work force of over 4,500, modern workshops and a graving dock measuring 375m x 75m on a site of some 1,950 acres provide it the edge to implement projects.

RDS is a world leader in the design of drill rig systems and has over 25 years’ experience in the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of drilling facilities for offshore service.

The company has designed over 80 drilling systems for the major operators around the world and is currently working on projects in China, Norway and the US.
“Asry’s and RDS’s strengths are complementary and the Alliance is therefore uniquely positioned to tackle the most demanding of projects,” it said.
