Emirates Preinsulated Pipes Industries (EPPI) has reported good progress since commencing production in May, 2002.

The company says it has experienced very strong demand across the UAE for its preinsulated pipe systems for chilled water distribution, hot water and process piping applications.

"In a little more than six months, EPPI has produced over 70km of pipe for a number of projects including construction of the Fujairah water and power plant, Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi and Knowledge Village at Dubai Internet City," a company statement said.

"Since we began commissioning, manufacturing and servicing piping to individual orders and exact project requirements in the second quarter of 2002, demand for our quality, ready-to-install and maintenance-free preinsulated piping systems has been very gratifying," said EPPI general manager Ghassan Sahli.

Predominantly used to convey chilled water underground from a central plant to different buildings that require cooling or air conditioning services, EPPI's pipes assist in regulating the temperatures of multiple residential, industrial and commercial buildings across the UAE. After the chilled water cools each building, it is transported back to the central plant through a closed loop of pipes to continue the cycle.

"Consisting of three distinct layers, EPPI's preinsulated pipes are composed of the best materials to suit the extreme climatic conditions of the UAE," EPPI says. Sahli explains: "A steel pipe and CFC-free insulating layer of rigid polyurethane foam efficiently maintain water temperature and minimise energy loss. They are then encased in a protective high-density polyethylene (HDPE) outer layer that will not corrode even when exposed to sand, dirt and the baking sun. It will also prevent external contaminants from entering the pipeline, ensuring smooth operations all day, every day."

EPPI credits its popularity to environmentally friendly, economically sound and maintenance-free piping systems.
