Project Status
The project was originally started by Atheer, but following their merger with Gasco, it is now Gasco's responsibility.
Fluor Daniel were awarded a pre-FEED contract in September 2000 to carry out studies for Phase III of the Onshore Gas Development Programme. This was completed in January 2001.
Technical bids were submitted August 16, 2001 and Commercial bids submitted August 26 for the PMC contract by the following companies: Foster Wheeler (UK), Parsons (US), ABB Lummus Global (US).
In January 2002, the PMC Contract was awarded to Foster Wheeler (UK).
The following companies were prequalified to bid for the FEED contract: Foster Wheeler (US), Fluor Daniel (UAE), Bechtel (US), Kellogg Brown & Root (US), Technip (France).
Technical bids were originally due to be submitted by October 2, 2001. Commercial bids for the FEED on both OGD III & AGD II were received on April 2, 2002 from: Fluor Daniel, Bechtel, Technip
The FEED for both OGD III & AGD II was awarded to Bechtel London on 24th April 2002. FEED completion is expected around the 2nd quarter 2003. EPC Pre-qualifications were originally scheduled take place during the 3rd quarter 2002, however due to delays on the project these are now likely to be in June 2003. EPC expressions of interest were due by April 14, 2003, but the deadline was extended until May 6, 2003. EPC enquiries are likely to be issued now in the third quarter of 2003.
The following companies were prequalified the EPC contract IV: Bechtel, Chiyoda, Fluor, (Declined), JGC, Kellogg Brown & Root, Snamprogetti, Technip
In late February 2005, Snamprogetti were awarded the EPC contract.
Archirodon was awarded the main offshore civil subcontract to construct the jetty and export berth. The awarded contract is worth approximately $150,000,000.
In May 2005, Snaprogetti was awarded the subcontract to carry out all onshore civil activities. The contract awarded is worth $280 million.
In late August 2005, Snaprogetti awarded the storage tank contract to CB & I. Completion of the project is scheduled for mid-2008.
Project Scope
There will be a requirement to expand the processing capacity of GASCO's NGL facilities at Ruwais to cope with the additional production of NGL from the OGD III & AGD II.
In addition to this there will be feed from existing facilities at Bu Hasa and from Takreer.
The additional ethane produced, which will amount to some 5,800 tpd, will be used as feedstock for an ethylene complex to be built in the future at Ruwais. Shell International research have been selected as process licensors for the DEO gas treating and LPG treating.
The PMC (Foster Wheeler) and FEED (Bechtel) engineer will be the same for all five of the EPC contracts associated withboth OGD III & Asab Gas Development Phase II.

Gascowill be responsible for implementing the project. The facility when completed will be wholly owned and operated by Gasco.
