Global, senior industry analysts and experts from IHS Markit, NexantCEA Energy and chemicals advisory and Argus Media will share their outlook on regional and global market trends in the agri-nutrient industry at the 12th GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference scheduled from September 28 to 29 at the Address Sky View Hotel, Dubai in the UAE.
To be held under the theme ‘Resolving Global Food Challenges with Agri-Nutrients’, the conference, will facilitate discussions on how to better address global food security issues while ensuring sustainable best practices are in place. It will highlight many opportunities to showcase the industry as a leader in transforming the agricultural food chain holistically through the adoption of progressive technologies, GPCA said in a statement.
The conference opens on a high note with the opening remarks from Abdulrahman Al-Suwaidi, CEO, QAFCO and Chairman, Agri-nutrients Committee, GPCA, and a keynote address on Climate-smart agriculture (CSA): An integrated approach to address the interlinked challenges of food security and accelerating climate change; followed by a Panel discussion and Q&A; and several other sessions.
FERTILIZER TRENDS
Agri-nutrients have a critical role to play in achieving food security goals. However, their production and trade is not immune to seasonal demands, geopolitics, supply chain issues, uncertain policy environments and trade barriers. Certain countries are net exporters of agri-nutrients and others are net importers. As black swan events become more frequent, as a major exporter of agri-nutrients and a major importer of food items, the GCC feels the impact at both ends of the spectrum. This session will highlight the key trends in both importing and exporting markets.
USES OF AMMONIA
Today, 70 per cent of ammonia is used as an agri-nutrient whereas the rest is used in other industrial applications such as wastewater purification as well as the manufacture of various chemicals and petrochemicals. It is starting to find new applications as a low-emission energy carrier and also as an alternative maritime fuel. This session will also highlight the latest trends in new end uses of ammonia and their potential impact on the industry.
The GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference has established itself as the foremost industry networking platform where regional industry leaders in the agri-nutrient sector including producers, blenders, distributors, farmers, consultants, technology providers, and government officials congregate to share best practices, exchange ideas, explore and deliberate challenges, and discuss long-term strategies for the agri-nutrient industry.
