The World Environment Education Congress (WEEC), for the first time in the region, will address the role and significance of education for environmental work and sustainability at all levels, in both official and informal education.
Individuals, institutions, networks, and alliances involved in environmental education utilise the congress in 2024 as a venue for exchanging knowledge and discourse.
WEEC, which is held every two years, is one of the most important global events that brings together environmental educational experts on an international level.
They meet to review best practices, experiences, and research on environmental education methods and outcomes under the supervision of a scientific committee representing all continents and with the help of a national committee from the host country.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD), Abu Dhabi will host the 12th World Environment Education Congress (WEEC).
The congress has been planned in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi.
WEEC, which is one of the most important events and conferences in the field of environmental education in the world, will take place from January 29 until February 2, 2024, under the theme ‘Connecting People, Creating Tomorrow.’ The hosting of the congress by EAD was officially announced during the 11th edition of WEEC in Prague, Czech Republic, in March 2022.
The congress is an important international event for people who work within the field of environmental education and sustainable development, as well as those with an interest in it. It also provides an opportunity for researchers, educators, students, decision-makers, as well as those working for NGOs or working in the media field, to learn more about a range of significant topics pertaining to the environment and sustainable development.
