A new bonded warehousing facility has been set up at the Ajman Free Zone as a private sector initiative in association with the Indonesia Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC).
An agreement for setting up the facility was signed recently by House of Indonesia, a company headquartered in Jakarta, and the Ajman Free Zone-based Amusa FZE. The warehouse will stock and re-export Indonesian products.
Haryono Eddyarto, president of House of Indonesia, and Abdul Sukur Al Hamid, general manager of Amusa, signed the agreement.
House of Indonesia will supply Indonesian products while Amusa will handle the goods and market these in the UAE and regional markets.
Indonesia is aggressively promoting its products in the Middle East after four years of low-key marketing.
The ITPC, which was closed in 1998 during the Asian economic meltdown, was reopened in January this year.
Indonesian exports to the UAE, comprising some 222 items, were valued at $767 million last year, a slight increase over the previous year.
