Time-definite service from Lufthansa

Lufthansa Cargo has further expanded its portfolio of time-definite services.

The logistics company in the Lufthansa Group, which pioneered time-definite services in April 1998 by setting new standards in the international airfreight business, is combining its highly reputed services in the transport of valuable cargo with the fastest of its time-definite offerings, its premium "td.Flash" service, in a single service package unique in the airfreight market, says a company spokesman.

The new "Safe/td 1" Service Package offers customers an optimum solution for the transport of goods requiring the tightest security standards because of their high value. Notable among them are jewels, diamonds, gold and other precious metals, banknotes, credit cards and travellers' cheques. Top security is guaranteed by specially developed transport aids like a new container and a valuable cargo box as well as warehousing in a high-security store, equipped with sophisticated safes and a constant video monitoring system, ground handling by security-checked and specially trained personnel, guarded apron transport and documentation of the entire transport operation, he says.

Since every "Safe/td " shipment will be transported with the "td.Flash" premium service, customers will be offered the safest and fastest-possible flight connection. Those shipments will additionally share the performance and capacity guarantees of "td-Flash" cargo. Should a shipment not be available for pick-up by the consignee at its final destination within three hours of the promised deadline, up to 100 per cent of the freight costs will be reimbursed under the "Performance Guarantee".

"With the 'Capacity Guarantee', Lufthansa Cargo ensures customers capacity access for all shipments weighing up to 100 kg, if booked up to six hours before the latest possible departure time. Cargo weighing more than 100 kg will be confirmed individually according to available capacity."

He says other new Service Packages are in the pipeline. One of the schemes will allow Lufthansa Cargo customers to put together customised packages.
