UPS expands network
UPS, one of the world's largest express carrier and package delivery companies, has expanded its UAE network to include direct services to the growing business centers of Al Ain, Sharjah and Jebel Ali.
The move offers UPS customers earlier delivery times to those destinations, as well as later cut-off times for collections, as part of an ongoing programme of expansion within the UAE and the other Gulf states.
"We have taken over direct control of collections and deliveries to and from these emerging business centres as part of our commitment to offer customers across the region the best service available on the market," says John Tansey, general manager, UPS UAE. "Our distinctive brown UPS vehicles will become a regular part of the scenery in Al Ain and the Northern Emirates, as the daily shuttle services link in with the Middle East network through hubs in Dubai and Sharjah," he says.
The new services are part of an ongoing programme of expansion for UPS in the UAE and the Middle East, which in the last year has involved the launch of export services from Syria and Oman, as well as the inauguration of direct UPS flights through its regional air gateway at Sharjah International Airport. UPS recently opened a new office in Sharjah City, while future activities in the region include plans for a network of new customer service centres in key business centres across Saudi Arabia, he says.
"We are in the growth stage at present, with every aspect of our business on the increase - volume, revenue and the number of destinations served directly by UPS," says Tansey.
