With the launch of a new serial adapter by Baxall Ltd, the UK's leading CCTV manufacturer, its award-winning Pyramid matrix switching system has become configurable via PC or laptop.
The PY2-INS installation tool is a serial adapter that allows connection of a standard PC or laptop computer to the Pyramid matrix. All devices operated through Pyramid can then be configured remotely, including titles, sequences, alarm configurations and other Pyramid matrix functions, Baxall said in a release, adding that the arrangement made the whole installation and commissioning process simple, quick and cost-effective as well as enabling a comprehensive record to be maintained on PC.
"Where the network is not accessible remotely, all configurations can be done off site on a PC. On site work is then limited to using the download feature, so a visiting engineer can minimise the on-site engineering time, which is beneficial to both the installer and the customer," the company said.
"In addition to quick and simple configuration, the new Pyramid PY2-INS serial adapter is also a useful diagnostic tool, providing the engineer with vital information about the system, such as the software versions currently running. It also allows for new software upgrades to be sent over the network.
"The Pyramid PY2-INS installation tool operates on Windows 95 and 98 on a standard PC with RS232 serial port. It requires 16Mb of Ram and 10 Mb of hard disk.
"It is the latest addition to the Pyramid system, which Baxall is continually developing to provide users with greater functionality and ease of use."
