Another new product from Cummins Power Generation is the DFE series of fully integrated generating sets that offer a cost-effective and highly reliable power solution in the 400kVA to 550kVA range.
Incorporating the new 15-litre QSX15 engine from Cummins, the sets comply with the toughest emissions standards including TA Luft and meet the new European directives governing noise emissions
The company has expanded its range of generating sets with a new series aimed at the diverse 400kVA-550kVA market. Available with prime power ratings of 320kW, 400kVA at 50Hz to 440kW, 550kVA at 60Hz, the DFE series is a fully integrated package, designed to offer high performance, reliability and cost effectiveness," the company said.
The DFE series incorporates the new QSX15 diesel engine from Cummins. This is a 15-litre 6-cylinder in-line turbocharged engine with twin overhead camshafts, 24 valves and low temperature air-to-air intercooling. Derived from the proven Signature 600 automotive engine, it offers the same output as the Cummins 19-litre unit but with improved power density and emissions performance.
The QSX15 is a full authority electronic (FAE) engine. This means all of the functions are electronically controlled in the same way as on a modern automotive engine. Benefits include higher power density, intelligent control with lots of features, improved serviceability and reduced operating costs.
Electronic control also allows for fuel input to be customised to suit specific applications. For example, the system can be programmed to maximise power output or fuel economy.
