Fujitsu Siemens Computers' (FSC) high-end Intel-based Xeon Primergy rack server has been supplied to Freight Systems Company Ltd, a Dubai-based freight forwarding company, FSC announced.

Galadari Computers, one of FSC's qualified partners in the region, supplied the server.

"The increased requirements of a global marketplace spread over distant locations across the globe has made it mandatory to make our business available to customers any time and anywhere. Freight Systems needed a robust IT infrastructure having absolute reliability and flexibility in order to run its global supply chain management system linking offices in 36 locations across 12 countries," said C. Mani, IT Manager, Freight Systems Company. "The Primergy servers from FSC were the ideal choice for the Frescon system which controls the supply chain management at Freight Systems, because they were able to meet our demand for total dependability and deliver extremely consistent and secure computing infrastructures for our e-business model. They also guarantee scalability to meet increasing loads with acceptable performance. Besides, Galadari Computers offers us extensive support services, which are essential in this kind of critical computing network."

Colin Britto, business development manager, Gulf Region, Fujitsu Siemens, said, "The enterprise-class computing server that has been supplied to Freight Systems supports key infrastructure and accommodates rapid technology developments to sustain an integrated system that links the shipper, consignee and the destination agent through the Freight Systems network. In addition, it facilitates the setting up of a total supply chain management system that allows for online tracking of information about shipments and purchase orders. The Oracle 8.1.7 applications linked to the system also incorporate email trigger modules for a continuous communication network."

Mahesh Asarpota, sales and marketing manager, Galadari Computers, said: "The Primergy servers play a major role in this strategy, because of their high-quality manufacture, extensive support for the techniques described above and the leading-edge serviceability features."

The Fujitsu Siemens Computers range of all-round servers is designed specifically for decentral installation with minimal operator supervision on site. A range of availability functions plus an extensive suite of remote-management options offer the security that the server will continue running even when there is no one in attendance to direct operations. The Primergy rack servers are powerful application and database servers that can answer to demands for processor scaling within a system.
