Ahmed bin Byat, CEO Dubai Internet City, with Ellis

DHL UAE has moved to a centre in Dubai Internet City (DIC) in what it said was part of an ongoing strategy of continually enhancing its service offering.

'We currently have substantial business volumes emanating out of DIC and Dubai Media City and the new centre will bring us closer to our customers and enable us to better service them,' said Rod Ellis, marketing manager, DHL UAE. 'The timing of the expansion has been driven by the availability of a prime central location for servicing DIC and DMC.'

The IT industry is one of eight key industry segments specifically targeted by DHL UAE as high-end logistics users.

'With the move to DIC, and the allocation of a dedicated Global Customer Logistics Manager to this sector, we are looking to further partner the IT industry in its logistics efforts. We will do this by creating tailor-made competitive solutions and providing value-added market advantage,' said Ellis.

DHL has also adopted a 'driver' role for the e-commerce sector with the recent appointment of an E-business applications manager to assist in identifying and developing client-specific e-commerce logistics solutions.

'As more Gulf companies move towards e-commerce fulfillment, requirements have to be carefully addressed,' said Ellis. 'Ensuring delivery of goods is a major element in the success of any E-business and one which the wise build into their original business plans. We are intent on promoting the efficiency gains available through e-commerce and will assist customers in transforming from traditional to Net-based
