Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), which recently was awarded the Dubai Chamber Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Label, has held discussions with Johnson Controls International on its requirements for district cooling equipment.

The two sides reviewed the results of their technology collaboration in the district cooling industry and agreed to strengthen their efforts in technology-research to enhance efficiency and sustainability.

Santiago Perez, vice president and general manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America at Johnson Controls, presented a Chiller Mode model to Empower CEO Ahmad bin Shafar in appreciation of his firm’s efforts to scale new heights and set new standards in district cooling.

“Empower’s vision about technological advancements in district cooling sector goes in line with that of Johnson Controls,” said Perez.

The Gulf region is eligible to play a leading role in this industry, due to the demand of cooling all year round. Empower’s spending in research contributes in enhancing its smart transformation move and sustainability drive, said Bin Shafar.

Both companies discussed the new global trends in district cooling industry and best practices for industry’s growth and the latest technologies and innovations in the field.

“We highlighted to the visiting company the drive of the UAE to adopt best worldwide practices as far as environmental sustainability is concerned,” Bin Shafar said.

The CSR Label granted to Empower by the Dubai business chamber was in honour of its sustainable and responsible corporate operations and its role in serving society. The company was awarded the label at an event held at the Dubai Chamber’s headquarters. 

“This achievement reflects the excellence of social practices at Empower and our focus on adopting efficiency and responsibility in all our operations,” said Bin Shafar. “Moreover, it reflects the commitment of our personnel serving the communities in which we operate. We are very pleased to receive this honor for the second time in a row,” he added.
