Participants at a recent UAE seminar on project management got a rundown of the multi-faceted issues related to the subject.
"Project management has become a very significant aspect of contemporary business practices, as current trends in industry emphasise the completion of projects in the shortest time within the constraints of budget and associated resources," said Bassam Al Samman, chapter director and president, Projacs, UAE.
"Project management techniques help to enhance ongoing operations in an organisation by treating each component of the operation as a separate resource, thus balancing competing demands for the project's scope, time, cost, risk and quality," he told the seminar.
The seminar was held parallel with a three-day training programme on the latest version of the Primavera Project Planner P3 3.1 Ñ a leading project planning tool in the industry.
Primavera Systems, an international PM solutions developer, was the sponsor of the seminar.
Primavera, having established a solid partnership with Projacs in the Gulf since 1984, has over 3,000 users of its premium software in the region.
Project Management Institute is a non-profit making organisation founded in 1969 in the US to develop and propagate professional and standard practices for project management.
There are more than 65,000 members and 200 chapters of PMI worldwide.
The PMI Arabian Gulf Chapter was set up in 1992 with a vision to enhance project management so that it becomes a "profession of choice" within the Gulf Region and the Middle East.
Its mission for the year 2002 is to promote and increase membership, encourage involvement of professionals and members in its activities, and educate members by providing quality presentations and seminars.
