GLASS LLC, wholly-owned by Dubai Investments (DI), announced that its coating lines, comprising subsidiaries Emirates Glass LLC (EGL) and Saudi American Glass, have won projects worth Dh100 million ($27.2 million) in H1 2013.
During the period, the coating lines undertook projects of more than 500,000 sq m spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Turkey and other Middle East markets.
Leading projects won by Emirates Glass include the world-renowned Masdar headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the Jeddah Airport and the Information Technology and Communication Complex (ITCC) in Riyadh. Other projects included the Jabal Omar expansion in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait University in Kuwait and Credit Libanais in Lebanon.
Some of the major projects undertaken by Saudi American Glass include a tower in Makkah of Tayseer Hidaya and the National Dialogue Centre and the Courtyard by Marriott, both in Riyadh. Other notable projects include the Arab National Bank in Riyadh, Dammam University in Dammam and Rajehi University and Qassim University in Qassim, among others.
Ziad Yazbeck, senior vice-president, sales and marketing, Glass LLC, said: “We are extremely proud of the rapid growth of our coating lines, and the prestigious projects across the region are reflective of our high-quality products and services and the burgeoning demand for energy-efficient architectural glass. To have won projects worth Dh100 million speaks volumes of our track record in the region and our world-class capabilities to meet the stringent technical specifications required for the state-of-the-art iconic projects. Over the years, Glass LLC has won an excellent portfolio of projects, which I believe will serve to cement our credibility and position as a trusted supplier of glass products in the region.”
OLAYA TOWERS
Meanwhile, Emirates Glass also announced the successful delivery of its third major project in Saudi Arabia – Olaya Towers, the latest addition to the iconic skyscrapers in downtown Riyadh. To be completed in August this year, the Olaya Towers project is one of the most prominent buildings in Saudi Arabia’s capital city, boasting 40 and 42 storeys individually.
For the project, Emirates Glass utilised Emicool Sun NN series that allows generous light transmission with low indoor reflection and lower optimum SHGC (solar heat gain co-efficient).
Notably, Saudi American Glass has also delivered glass products to two defining developments in Riyadh’s commercial district, commonly known as King Fahd Road. These include Kingdom Tower and Al Faisaliah Centre, the second and the third tallest buildings in Saudi Arabia respectively.
Glass LLC, through its subsidiaries – Emirates Glass, Lumiglass, Saudi American Glass and Emirates Float Glass – provides glass solutions to the construction, automotive, security and defence industries across domestic and international markets.
