Mapei, a global leader in the production of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for buildings, says it is strengthening its presence in Qatar ahead of large-scale infrastructure and building projects due to come up there in the next few years.
Qatar is expected to award projects worth some $22.14 billion this year alone. In line with its ambitions, Mapei took part in Project Qatar in collaboration with contracting and trading distributor Construction Material Company (CMC). The event was held from April 30 to May 3 at the Doha Exhibition Centre.
The company showcased its premium range of building solutions, including the award-winning Keraflex adhesive, market-leading Ultracolour Plus tile grout, the Ultralite S1 cementitious adhesive and other specialised products for swimming pools and flooring installations.
Ultralite, launched last year as the next-generation adhesive, is highly suitable for bonding all types and sizes of ceramic tiles and natural stones on internal and external surfaces, as well as thin porcelain gres tiles on floors and walls, including external façades.
Keraflex Maxi S1 is described as a superior quality adhesive for ceramic tiles and stone material that offers significant dust reduction advantages.
This highly flexible cementitious adhesive is an enhanced addition to the popular Keraflex product range. A premier standard-setting adhesive, it now benefits from Mapei’s low-dust technology.
Keraflex Maxi S1 creates 90 per cent less dust during pouring and mixing stages compared with standard Mapei cementitious adhesives. This significantly reduces particle inhalation by the installer and leaves less dry residue to settle on surrounding surface areas, which is great for inhabited sites and refurbishment work.
Qatar’s winning bid to host the 2022 Fifa World Cup is expected to boost its potential sales in the country. The company has a long history of supplying to major sporting facilities such as Olympic stadiums, football arenas and running tracks around the world, a statement said.
“Mapei is committed to strengthening its presence in Qatar and introducing innovative solutions that satisfy the stringent quality and environmental standards being adopted in the country’s construction industry,” an official said.
Mapei has been involved in various construction projects in the UAE, including the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa, Emirates Palace Hotel, the Grand Mosque, Qasr El Sarab Resort, Atlantis Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Ferrari World and Dubai International Airport’s Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
