Bostik, one of the world’s leading bonding solutions companies, has extended the reach of its award-winning Relyance platform with two new products that offer even more options for the manufacturers of disposable hygiene products, including meeting the challenges of optimising shear stress performance in certain construction applications.
“The catalyst technologies behind olefin-based hygiene adhesives have come a long way over the past several years,” said Diane Strelow, director, global strategic marketing. “Historically, manufacturers have to give up either high performance or good processability to use an olefin-based adhesive. Once again, Bostik applied our formulation expertise and commitment to solving our customers’ challenges. The result is Relyance’s singular ability to offer both high performance and excellent processability.”
For construction applications in baby diaper and adult incontinence products, Relyance offers unique advantages. “Relyance delivers equal to or better performance than Styrenic Block Copolymers (SBC) technology with a wide range of shear resistance and peel performance. It overcomes the challenges posed by other olefin technologies and is compatible with all spray and slot application systems. And because it uses polymers derived from both natural gas and crude oil, the Relyance platform offers the advantages of a more stable supply and less price volatility.”
Bostik, a subsidiary of Total, is a global leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of technologically advanced adhesives and sealants. With 2011 sales of 1.44 billion euros ($1.8 billion), the company employs 4,500 people and has a presence in more than 50 countries.
The company says it collaborates closely with its customers to provide high-performance solutions, creating “stronger bonds for a better life.”
