Stansted Airport, where Schmidlin worked on a project

UAE plant A leading European window and curtain walling company, whose factory in the UAE is due to open in a few months' time, participated in the Airport Build and Supply Exhibition to boost its Middle East portfolio.

Swiss-based company Schmidlin AG joined a big international line-up of suppliers and contractors exhibiting at the new lucrative Middle East showcase that took place at Airport Expo Dubai in late May.

Established as a major innovator in its industry, the company is one of Europe's leading companies specialising in the design, engineering, manufacture, supply and installation of high-quality windows and custom-designed curtain walling.

Represented in the UAE by its office in Abu Dhabi, and branches in London and Paris, the company has been involved in numerous prestigious projects including engineering the complete glass facade of Dubai's landmark Burj Al Arab, the world's tallest hotel.

Schmidlin AG are currently engaged in the supply and installation of their window and curtain walling systems, through a partnership contract with the British Airways Authority, for Heathrow airport's Terminal Five. The company is also involved with the Nice airport project in France, and previously carried out work at Dusseldorf airport in Germany.

Other projects include City Bank in Bahrain, Stansted Airport, and the Greater London Authority, which involves Swiss Re-Insurance and the eye-catching Mayor of London's office with 1300 glass pieces of individual shapes and sizes.

The company used the exhibition to highlight its operation expansions in the Middle East with the opening of a plant in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, dealing with fabrication materials required for curtain walling systems. The workshop is due to be completed by mid-October.

Schmidlin AG participated in the Airport Build & Supply Exhibition, organised by Streamline Marketing, with a view to meeting project decision-makers to showcase its products, services and technologies.

The Airport Build & Supply Exhibition, held under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai's Department of Civil Aviation, was designed to provide an ideal forum for the selection of high-quality qualified suppliers and contractors for the $1.4 billion second-phase development at Dubai International Airport.
