Airline opens Hong Kong office Saudi Airlines Cargo has announced it has opened a new regional office in Hong Kong which will oversee business at eight online Far East stations. The online stations are Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Manila. Additionally, offline stations in Seoul, Osaka, Hanoi, Saigon and Taipei are also supported and managed from Hong Kong. The regional office is headed by Vikram Vohra, who joined Saudi Airlines Cargo in June. The new office also provides sales, customer service and operational support to the Hong Kong market where the carrier operates six weekly B747 freighter flights. Suez Canal revenue up 11pc Revenue from Egypt’s Suez Canal rose 11 per cent year on year to $449.2 million in July, up 0.9 per cent from a month earlier, a government portal showed. Revenue in July 2010 was $406.2 million. In June 2011 it was $445.2 million. The waterway is a vital source of foreign currency in Egypt. Skycom opens Bahrain facility UAE-based Skycom, a leading courier and logistics firm, has started a new facility in Bahrain. The company has a staff of 500 to cover the Middle East and other regions and services more than 150 destinations. 'The opening of a new Skycom facility in Bahrain is a milestone for the company,' said country manager for Bahrain and Qatar, Ian Gabrielle. Skycom started operations in the UAE in 1993. Agility Q2 profit plunges Kuwait’s Agility, the logistics firm facing US fraud charges, posted a 57 per cent drop in second-quarter net profit, according to a statement. Net profit in the three months to June 30 came in at KD7.83 million ($28.7 million), the company statement said, down from KD18.09 million a year earlier. GOP shortlisted for award The General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP), Bahrain’s maritime regulatory authority, has been shortlisted in the port operator/authority category of the prestigious 2011 Lloyds List Global Awards. The awards will acknowledge the best port authority or operator that has maintained the highest standards of operational efficiency and customer service throughout the year. The Lloyd’s List Award winners will be announced on September 20.
