Almajdouie’s western region operations got a boost with the announcement that Doosan Corporation Glonet had awarded Almajdouie Group a contract for handling local customs clearance, warehousing management and land transportation for shipments required by the Rabigh-2 power plant project. The project is located in the western region and the freight to be handled amounts to approximately 750,000 tonnes. Doosan Corporation Glonet is Doosan Group’s in-house freight forwarding company. It was selected to handle door-to-door shipments for Rabigh-2 by Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, which was awarded a turnkey contract for Rabigh-2. "Almajdouie will be responsible for complete onshore freight forwarding. The work includes installation of heavy units onto foundations by the use of various installation engineering methods," an Almajdouie spokesman said. "Almajdouie Heavylift Transport & Engineering (an Almajdouie Group company) will conduct a study highlighting safety aspects relating to receiving and transporting heavy and oversized units from Jeddah and Yanbu seaports and operations at the jetties," he stated. "The project has been granted a fast-track status and completion time is three years. Rabigh 2 power plant will be one of the major projects in terms of project volume that Doosan Corporation Glonet will be handling in Saudi Arabia." Present at a ceremony to mark the award of the subcontract to Almajdouie Logistics were SI Mustafa, vice president, Almajdouie Logistics, and Doosan Corporation Glonet Korea officials My Chung and Jina Kim. Also attending the event was JH Yu, a representative from Almajdouie Korea.
