A part of the Namma fleet: ready to go
Namma Cargo reported an 8.3 per cent revenue surge and implementation of significant contracts, mainly petrochemicals-related.
Revenue for 2009 was SR504 million ($134.3 million) against SR465 million in the previous year, it said.
Last year it won logistics contracts for services across Saudi Arabia for three Maaden projects including one from Samsung for the ammonia plant, another from Litwin for the phosphorous acid plant and the third from Hanwha for the PDP factory.
Namma is currently handling the offshore and utilities portion of the Saudi Polymers Co/ National Chevron Phillips project on a door-to-door basis. Some of the cargo is oversized and includes consignment moved by three charter vessels from the US to Jubail.
During 2009 Namma Cargo cleared and forwarded 1.5 million tonnes of consignments kingdomwide including some for fast-track Marafiq power plant and Saudi Kayan projects, said managing director Abdulrazaq Ali Alturki and CEO Wadeea A Derar.
Saudi Kayan projects
“In Saudi Kayan projects, Namma Cargo was instrumental in gaining customs duty exemptions for all nine engineering, procurement and construction contractors for which Saudi Kayan awarded us an appreciation certificate for excellence and professionalism,” Alturki and Derar said.
In those projects, Namma handled door-to-door logistics for contractor KBR (ethylene plant) and CTCI (ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol plants). In-kingdom logistics was provided for Samsung’s contract for the polypropylene and propane dehydrogenation units.
Namma Cargo is the exclusive partner-agent for DHL global forwarding and DHL industrial project division in Saudi Arabia.
For haulage of heavy and super-heavy cargo, the company utilises the services of various heavy-lift operators in the kingdom.
Namma Cargo is also the exclusive logistics provider for CMK Mammoet Gulf BV, Saudi branch, arranging for it temporary import permits, local clearance and transportation of Mammoet cranes and other equipment arriving in Saudi Arabia through different ports of entries for projects in the kingdom.

It has cleared and transported for Arabian Heavy Equipment Leasing Company more than 66 cranes with capacities ranging from 30 to 500 tonnes and 14 manlifts. It is currently undertaking all the mobilisation and de-mobilisation of their cranes and manlifts at different project sites.
Wide-ranging portfolio
Namma Cargo’s service portfolio is wide-ranging including as it does project logistics, warehouse to warehouse services for general cargo worldwide, door-to-door worldwide services for household goods and personal effects, air and ocean forwarding, packing and crating, customs clearance and trucking.
The list also covers storage, transit insurance, warehousing and distribution involving bonded facilities in Dammam and Jeddah, inner-city or inner-kingdom moves, air and ocean chartering, worldwide consolidation and marshalling, duty exemption, temporary import services and arranging of chemical import permits.
Project logistics and freight forwarding contribute most to revenues, the company said.
Namma Cargo is part of the Nesma Group with 60 per cent of the shares held by Nesma Holding Company, 20 per cent by Rawabi Holding and 10 per cent each by Sheikh Abdulrazaq Ali Alturki and Abdulhadi El-Saif.
The company is a blue member of Samsung Engineering Company Limited.
