Gulf Stabilizers Industry (GSI), a manufacturer of main antioxidants and blender of polymer additives, is in the process of setting up its fourth NDB (non dust blend) facility that will raise annual capacity to 21,000 tonnes.
NDB-3, which became operational in 2008, had contributed 4,000 tonnes to capacity. The company has commenced engineering work on an additional 4,000 tonnes of capacity. 'We successfully expanded the Al Jubail facility in March with the NDB-3 production line but we now need to invest further capacity to keep ahead of the growing demand for our products in the Region,' said Fahad Al Zamil, director of Al Zamil and GSI vice-chairman of the Board.
NDB-4 will be completed some time in 2010.
'With this new investment GSI will have reached critical mass and will be able to meet all of its customers' requirements in terms of quality, service and value.'
The expansion will deploy Chemtura's proprietary NDB technology producing a one-pack product that provides customers with both efficiency and safety benefits over the use of single powder components.
'This expansion is part of our new global strategy and will support our customers' growth with the supply of unique and cost-advantaged products in countries worldwide' explained Peter Smith, general manager of Chemtura's antioxidant and UV stabiliser worldwide operations and GSI chairman of the board.
GSI is a joint venture between Al Zamil Group Holding Company and Chemtura Corporation, USA.
Al Zamil Group Holding Company is a global investment company with diverse interests and capabilities in the industrial, petrochemicals and services sectors.
