Pan Gulf Welding Solutions is making inroads in the regional market

In less than five years, Pan Gulf Welding Solutions (PGWS) has assumed a prominent position as supplier of welding solutions and cutting products.

The division has made remarkable strides as a professional service provider to the steel fabrication and related industries, a mission it set out to perform at the time it was formed in 2005.

Additionally, PGWS, part of the diversified group Pan Gulf Holding, has been able to assume a strong position across the market thanks to a branch it opened in 2006 in the name of Pan Gulf Technical Services (PGTS) and which now has a strong presence in Saudi Arabia and in other Gulf states.

PGWS warehouses are located in Al-Khobar, Jeddah and Riyadh and they stock an extensive range of welding and cutting machines, consumables and spare parts right through to personal safety and protective equipment. Anything needed for welding and cutting is within inventory.

As well as providing sales and service to its industrial customers, PGWS has an extensive rental fleet of portable electric welders and other products including 1,000-tonne roll beds in stock ready to be dispatched to the customer’s site.

“The division is particularly blessed with strong brand names, great experience and dependable services, making it the first choice of contractors and fabricators alike,” says a company spokesman. New companies are introduced to the most sophisticated welding and cutting machines, he adds.

Not long after it was set up, PGWS started to develop its own brand name, Metweld. “Products developed under that brand have the best ‘price to quality’ ratio and fulfill 100 per cent customer needs and quality requirements,” the company claims.

ISO-accredited PGWS highlights that it pays special attention to all safety aspects and quality procedures.
Meanwhile, Pan Gulf Technical Services is deeply involved in the oil and gas sector and has been helping companies there that need heat application services.

PGTS introduced the heat induction process to Saudi Arabia and the region following an exclusive partnership it forged with RHS (Rapid Heat Systems)-UK. It provides heat application services as a rental provider.

The RHS’ patented induction heating  technology has applications in  the oil and gas industry, power plants and petrochemical and iron and steel facilities for heating requirements up to 815 deg C including PWHT pre-heat shrink fitting.

Companies requisitioning PGTS’ services include Saudi Aramco, Sabic, Al Tawleed, Encocorp, Safami, Global Tech, J&P, Cameron Al Rushaid, CCC and Al Qahtaini.

PGWS’ principals are among the world’s most trusted manufacturers and drawn from several countries.

Abigail Binzel: A Germany-based company, its Push-Pull Plus – the air- and liquid-cooled torches for capacities of up to 400 A – is based on the tried-and-trusted “MB” torch neck structure.

The main areas of application for these welding torches include shipbuilding and container and tank manufacture as well as the construction of automobile and railway vehicles – in fact wherever exact and constant wire feeding is absolutely essential.

Especially developed for aluminium welding requirements and the use of thin wires, the welding torches of the Push-Pull Plus series provide trouble-free and constant wire feed, even with long cable assemblies. A powerful sturdy pull motor with potentiometer guarantees exact speed regulation. For an optimum wire feed without frictional loss, the contact pressure of the feeding rollers can be regulated precisely and easily directed on the handle. The ergonomic handle design ensures optimum and low-fatigue handling.

The screw-type torch necks can be replaced quickly. They are available as either straight or 45° angled versions. A special interface between the handle and the torch neck makes it possible to turn the necks by up to 360°.

Abicor Binzel: It developed the first MIG/MAG inert-gas shielded welding torches in 1963 and later started production of TIG inert-gas shielded welding torches.

Innovations include the central plug and socket systems that  subsequently became the European and world standard; the first generation of liquid-cooled MIG/MAG inert-gas shielded welding torches, MB series; the first generation of fume extraction welding torches RAS; systems for welding using robots; the BWS tool changing system WWS; the robot-mounting system CAT; the torch neck replacement system ATS-Rotor; multi-wire torches and the Master Feeder System MFS, which makes it possible for the first time to integrate aluminium welding into large-scale series production.
