Eikebu: Jotafloor Traffic Deck has a history of high performance

Jotun Paints has announced that it has bagged a sizeable deal to deliver its top-range floor coating solution to the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

The company will coat the convention centre’s 140,000 sq m car parking floor area using the Jotafloor Traffic Deck System.

Combining the latest glass flake reinforced epoxy and polyurethane technology, Jotafloor Traffic Deck can be tailor-made to suit floors in car parks, walkways, ramps and external traffic decks, the company explained. For the QNCC project, Jotun Qatar will deliver 90,000 litres of that paint, 100,000 kg of Jotafloor non-slip aggregate and 14,000 litres of Jota Armour, a high-build epoxy flooring system with excellent abrasion resistance and anti-slip properties that will be used for bus and taxi ramps. Jotafloor Coating, a solvent-free epoxy coating, will be applied to the floors of the technical rooms containing house compressors, generators and HVAC equipment.

High-performance history
“Concrete floors require protection from being attacked by chemicals, contamination from spillage, impact, abrasion and a host of other potentially damaging criteria. Taking these factors into consideration, we have developed the Jotafloor Traffic Deck, which has an extremely high-performance history in many parts of the Middle East,” said Gunnar Eikebu, branch manager, Jotun Qatar.

Wide scope of Jotun order
In addition to the flooring, Jotun Qatar will also supply the intumescent coating Steelmaster and the anti-carbonation coating Jotashield Tex Ultra. It will deploy trained and experienced specialists to manage the application of Jotafloor paints within the QNCC grounds. The team’s top priority is to ensure that the site has undergone sufficient surface preparation in adherence to the specifications of the coating system to achieve maximum results.

“Our Jotafloor products have undergone tests in internationally and regionally recognised independent testing laboratories who have guaranteed their capacity to address protective requirements of most structures in the region,” said Eiekebu.

Founded in 1926 in Norway, Jotun has expanded dramatically throughout the region and is the first paint manufacturer to be awarded the ISO 9001 certification. Jotun has consistently invested in state-of-the-art factories including a recently opened plant in the Al Quoz area of Dubai, UAE.
