Saudi Valves Manufacturing Establishment (SVME), based in Jubail, is currently on a drive to provide quality assurance of the highest order to its customers. The wholly Saudi-owned company, under the proprietorship of Yusuf Ahmed Bukhari, is a reputed valve manufacturing unit catering to the needs of quality valves for both industrial and public utility services in Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries.

"Quality is a key element in our growth strategy. The company is now in the process of achieving ISO9002 certification. Saudi Aramco has approved our FBE (fusion bonded epoxy) coating procedure," says Bukhari.

Founded in 1984 and located in Jubail, covering an area of 5,040 sq m, Saudi Valves has a technical licence agreement with Erhard Gmbh of Germany who is a world leader in valves for various kinds of water and sewerage applications.

The valves are designed and manufactured according to DIN standard that complies to or even exceeds the British Standard in order to meet the aggressive and arduous water and soil conditions.

SVME valves are available in both ductile iron and cast iron. The products include: Butterfly valves with offset concept -flanged as well as wafer/lug style; gate valves; check valves - swing, tilting disc and wafer type; air valves - single and double orifice; needle valves -vane ring and slotted cylinder type; ball valves, pressure control and reducing valves and other accessories.

SVME is hopeful of good growth with several new and expansion projects in the pipeline. "Valves are required in any project whether it is a hospital, petrochemcial industry, water distribution network, sewage plant or even a small home. Our valves are installed in most of the above types of projects and our main clients include Saudi Aramco, saline water desalination plants, water and sewage department and Sabic," says Bukhari.

Many projects have been awarded in the electricity, water and petrochemicals sectors and the market is good, he says.

SVME recently upgraded its facilities to meet the demand for valves from various sectors as well as to maintain their valves, especially during shutdown. The upgraded facility has the lifting capacity of 10 tonnes and it has the ability to refurbish large size valves.

"Industrial valves play a key role in the installations. Leaking valves can result in production losses, environmental problems, substantial and unwanted costs. Saudi Valves refurbishment services provides assurance on the quality of reconditioned valves to its clients," says Bukhari. "We have in-house engineering and workshop facilities, which enables us to adopt any valve for refurbishment to our client's requirements."

In addition, SVME manufactures accessories such as flange adapters, couplings and dismantling joints and also components/products according to drawings. SVME has sales offices in Dammam, Jubail, Riyadh and Jeddah.
