

Leading regional port management and logistics firm Gulftainer has been named ‘Port Authority and Terminal Operator of the Year’ at the third annual Supply Chain and Transport Awards (Scata 2009).
Global shipping and logistics services provider GAC received three awards, namely the ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year,’ ‘3PL Provider of the Year,’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility.’
Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) was awarded ‘Industrial Area of the Year.’ The ‘Industrial Area Award of the Year’ recognises industrial areas or free zones that provide world-class services to the Middle East freight forwarding industry, with exceptional business incentives, transport and logistics infrastructure, customer service and marketing.
The awards, which are in their third year, are organised by magazine publisher ITP Business, and have established themselves as the ultimate celebration of the Middle East logistics industry’s achievements.
Awards were presented in 17 categories.
Speaking of the ‘Port Authority and Terminal Operator of the Year’ award that his company bagged, Gulftainer Group director and general manager Peter Richards expressed his delight that Gulftainer’s commitment to “providing excellence and delivering the best, most cost-effective terminal and transport services in the region” was recognised.
“Gulftainer had a very productive 2008, and we have continued to provide excellent, efficient service to ever more and ever larger vessels even as our Khorfakkan and Sharjah Container Terminals are undergoing expansion,” he said.
