
Bombardier eyeing Gulf contracts
Bombardier is eyeing 4 billion euros ($5.44 billion) worth of rail contracts over the next five years in the Gulf region, where public spending is rising to lift shrinking economies, a company executive said.
Bombardier, the world’s No 1 passenger train maker, is keen to take part in about 1 billion euros worth of contracts in Qatar alone for light rail projects in Doha, which could be opened for bidding this year.
Agility DGS bags US contract
Kuwait-based Agility’s Defence & Government Services (DGS) and Accent Controls have won a $17-million contract to manage the US Department of Defence’s Defence Distribution Depot Guam, Marianas (DDGM).
The five-year contract was awarded by the Defence Distribution Centre, New Cumberland.
Accent Controls, based in Riverside, Montana, will be the prime contractor.
DP World wins award
Global marine terminal operator DP World has won the Best Global Container Terminal Operating Company award at the 23rd Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA).
Readers of Hong Kong-based Cargonews Asia were the competition’s judges.
Honours for Emirates
Emirates SkyCargo has added four accolades to its impressive trophy collection in recent weeks.
Emirates’ cargo division won the premier prize at the prestigious Cargo Airline of the Year Awards hosted by Air Cargo News in London.
It was also voted Best All-Cargo Airline and, for an incredible 21st successive year, Best Middle East Cargo Airline.
It also took the prize for Best Air Cargo Carrier – Middle East in the 2009 Asian Freight & Supply Chain Award in Hong Kong.
