

Drydocks World Dubai, the ship repair, conversion and building subsidiary of Dubai World, has won the Lloyd’s List Middle East Shipyard of the Year Award for 2008, the fourth successive year it has scooped the prize.
Nawal Saigal, managing director, Drydocks World Dubai, said the successive winnings clearly reflected team commitment to realising the company’s corporate vision “to be valued by our clients and employees as the world’s leading ship repair, conversion and new building group.”

Mohammad Rizal, production director, Drydocks World Dubai, received the prestigious award from Abdullah Al Shuraim, chairman of Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC, during a ceremony held recently at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah. The awardees were selected by an independent panel of judges that comprised some of the most prominent names in the shipping industry.
Drydocks World Dubai, which celebrated its Silver Jubilee early in 2008, was established with the merger of Jadaf Shipbuilding and Dubai Drydocks. Jadaf serves smaller vessel owners, while Dubai Drydocks, with one of the largest repair docks in the world, focuses on the upper end of the market. The company won Seatrade’s Ship Repair/Shipyard Award for the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent recently.
