Belden now produces Brilliance CatSnake 70005E, a shielded Cat 5e cable for use in studios or in tactical field deployable A/V installations for patching Ethernet or digital A/V formats.
”With the introduction of CatSnake 70005E, Belden now provides broadcast professionals with a Cat5e tested cable that offers superior performance thanks to Beldfoil technology,” a Belden statement said.
“Applying Belden’s proprietary Beldfoil technology ensures that the shield is bonded to the jacket inner wall. This ensures electrical stability and 100 per cent coverage for highly improved signal transmission. The ‘invisible’ matte-finish black cable features compact round cable design for ease of transportation and deployment. The flexible PVC outer jacket ensures low memory effect. It is strong, rugged and easy to terminate – thanks to its RJ-45 compatibility.”
Belden CatSnake 70005E is ideal for use in professional broadcast applications such as TV/Radio, outside broadcasts, including news, sports and other events, sports facilities and on-stage lighting. The cable meets the requirements of the latest digital audio formats designed to run on Ethernet cables. These include CobraNet, EtherSound, and Roland’s DigitalSnake.
In addition, they can be used in stage lighting control using DMX over Ethernet.
Belden based new shielded CatSnake 70005E on its popular Brilliance CatSnake 1305A unshielded Cat 5e cable. The new cable is designed to patch Ethernet or digital A/V formats in high traffic areas in a broadcast studio or in any type of tactical field deployable A/V installation. Belden’s shielded CatSnake is extremely rugged and uses Belden’s Beldfoil shield for perfect coverage.
Belden’s shielded CatSnake 70005E features Beldfoil shielded twisted pairs with 24 AWG solid bare copper conductors and polyolefin insulation.
Belden shielded CatSnake is designed for portable applications in a rugged environment. With the feel and look of a microphone cable, it will withstand repeated coiling and uncoiling during stage and live sound applications. For use in the harshest heavy-duty environments, Belden has designed an upjacketed matte-finish black PVC jacket to ensure the cable’s durability and sustainability.
CatSnake 70005E is RJ-45 compatible. Neutrik’s Ethercon connector is used to lock the cable to the patch bay. The cable end offers a robust diecast shell as a carrier for pre-assembled RJ-45 plugs. Independent third-party tests have verified that CatSnake 70005E meets the standards of the horizontal data networking test TIA/EIA-568-B.2 Category 5e, whilst remaining RJ-45 compatible.
