Jafza officially launched its new E-Gate card issuance facility under its single window services at the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
The Free Zone’s first E-gate centre’s inauguration ceremony was attended by Salma Hareb, CEO of Jafza and Economic Zones World, Major General Mohammad Al Marri, director of the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) and Fatma Salem, executive vice president, operations, among other Jafza and DNRD officials.
Jafza has partnered with Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department, which in association with the Department of Civil Aviation, will prepare and issue E-Gate cards to Jafza tenants from its Jafza Immigration Service Centre on the spot after completion of the necessary formalities.
The E-Gate card is valid for immigration clearance at all the international airports in the UAE. Applicants can be either UAE citizens or expatriates holding valid residence visas.
Hareb stated: “As a customer-centric business model, Jafza continually interacts with its business community and is constantly exploring ways to enhance and increase the range of services and facilities offered to them. The E-gate cards will facilitate our clients’ speedy immigration clearance saving them certain travel-related hassles. By partnering with the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department, we have brought the E-gate card, an increasingly important requirement for frequent Jafza travelers, literally to their doorstep.”
Al Marri stated: “DNRD plays a fundamental and strategic role in sustaining security and safety in the country and we are constantly looking to improve and extend our current offerings. The E-Gate card has proved to be very popular with Dubai travelers, since its inception. In view of the fact that a large portion of Dubai’s workforce is placed within the Jebel Ali Free Zone it is a natural step for us to set up an E-gate card issuance facility for the convenience and ease of Jafza-based travelers. We are pleased to partner with Jafza to offer their customers this value-added service that will be of great benefit to all tenants.”
The E-Gate Card will allow travellers to bypass long queues at the airport’s immigration check by a swipe of their cards. This facility also does not require travelers to get their passports stamped when exiting or entering the country. The e-gate card helps passengers complete passport control within a few seconds, using an electronically operated fingerprint identification system.
Jafza currently has over 6,000 companies operating within the zone, and one in seven people working in Dubai works within the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
