The MH Sherbiny Group has been very selective about the agencies it acquires and the products it will market, said Majed Mohammed Sherbiny, business development manager.
“It is important we are satisfied with the quality and potential of the product,” he said while expressing his thoughts on the family business.
“My father always took a holistic view of the products he dealt with. Everything had to be right – the product, marketing, servicing and continued support for the customer.”
Whilst capitalising on the principals’ reputation agents must work relentlessly to achieve customer satisfaction, which can happen if much attention is paid to delivering on time, servicing and providing after sales support, says Majed.
“If customers are happy you can expect to have a long relationship with them. This has been our experience with Saudi Aramco, Sabic and establishments across various sectors of industry.”
The Sherbiny Group deals with project contractors but often has direct business relationships. Major groups such as Aramco and Sabic have approached it directly for consultation and supplies.
In the industrial wave now sweeping throughout Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, business operations are becoming increasingly sophisticated. There is growing diversification and customer expectations are high, making it imperative that a skilled workforce is available.
Majed observes that a majority of skilled Saudis does not realise the potential of the wider private sector and are only seeking placements in big oil and petrochemical companies besides government offices.
“It is important they understand that working in a mid-level company, for example, may quicken their career growth faster than if they were in big companies or government establishments.”
Commenting on the work culture at the MH Sherbiny Group, Majed said it was basically teamwork. “We decry bossism. Everyone accomplishes the duties assigned and everyone is expected to do his best with the support of the team.”
